Welcome to the Dirt Drag Racing Association

To Our Racers and Fans;

From DDRA President David McMillin (April 14, 2009)

We would like to thank all the racers and spectators for their attendance at our first event of the year at the Louisiana Off Road Race Park.

We apologize for all the problems with our timing system. We just spent more than $6,000 on the new stuff but still had some bugs in it. We will work at our best to resolve this before our next race.

The next thing we had a problem with was the ATV racing prior to the truck races. It is hard to set up a timing system which works for an ATV and trucks on the same track. ATV tires are a lot smaller than truck tires.

So we will have to schedule the ATV races on another day. If anyone with ATVs has any questions or solutions please let me know.

Another problem was having the mud drags the same day as the drag races. We had no idea how many people or trucks would show for the new event.

Our racing schedule for the year is full so we had to get the first race behind us. Our next race for the mud drags will be June 27th. It will be an event on its own. That way if any of our drag trucks or AMRA mud trucks want to race they can.

The last major problem at our race was a misunderstanding about the DDRA payouts. Our DDRA sanctioned races, classes, rules, entry fees, and payouts have been posted on our website for more than two years. Until this past race we have never had a complaint about our system as an association.

We based our entry fee and payouts on our average truck counts. We tried to come up with a match of 50% up to the payout totals to help if the truck count was low. We need trucks to make our spectators happy.

This last race we had an above average truck count in the ET trucks. Also it took us more time to run the ET trucks than it did to run our other seven classes put together. We only have so much time in the day to get these races done. So we came up with a solution.

If you run in ET class, you cannot run in any other class period. ET trucks will run at the end of the race after all other classes are finished completely. ET class will be paid 100% of all entry fees they pay in: 50% for 1st; 30% for 2nd, 20% for 3rd.

All other classes will follow our payouts. In the event the entry fees exceed our payout ceiling then the payouts will be 100% payouts; 50% for 1st, 30% for 2nd, 20% for 3rd.

I don't know if anybody knows what it takes to put all this together but our goal is to give everybody the best facility as possible to come race and have fun with their family.

Thank you,

Owners of the Louisiana Off Road Race Park
