Plenty of racing from dirt drags to mud racing...

Photographer Holley Lipscomb maybe new to this type of racing but she is quickly catching on to the style.

“The true spirit of southern hospitality just runs through this place,” Lipscomb noted after taking in her third event. “The folks here are just so accommodating. This is by far the nicest track I have ever had anything to do with. I just love coming to this track.”

Considering Lipscomb may have had the best seat in the house for Sunday’s AMRA race, perched some 45-feet above the racing track her pictures tell most of the story.

“At the beginning of the race, there was a white school bus located in the bend of the horseshoe track,” Lipscomb continued, “however, by the end of the races it was affectionately known as the dirt bus.”

And in the bend would be where most of the action really happened as at least six bumps and minor crashes occurred. Luckily, there were no injuries and only a couple of egos bruised.

After a near perfect day and just as the final races of the day were concluded, the rain held off as long as it could.

“Then the bottom just fell out,” said track official Walter Keyes with a laugh. “It was a beautiful day and we all had a lot of fun.”
